Colin See-Paynton is an artist who continues to master the skills of the past in order to express his love of nature by his engravings. His initial drawings come from a combination of field drawings, imagination and memory and these are then worked on and provide the source of inspiration for his engraved work.
To begin with the drawings are quite rough but will be worked on until they have developed into a clearly defined line drawing, which can then be transferred to a wood block for engraving.
Colin See-Paynton has a great love of nature and uses his keen observations and skill to invent wonderfully innovative compositions. His work is truly remarkable in its detail and beauty and he is well known as a distinguished exponent of the art of wood engraving.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and a Member of the Society of Wood Engravers.
