Jonathan Poole undertakes private commissions. He lives and works in Gloucestershire and is currently concentrating on paintings of wildlife.
His comments on his new work are as follows: Jonathan has always thought that there is more to animals than the beauty of their pelt, the majesty of their mien or even in some cases, their sheer ugliness. They too have characters akin to humans. They are proud and arrogant and feel very much the same as we do. Jonathan has not been overly concerned about the animal's structure. In fact, he has exaggerated its body formation to portray the character, sense of speed, strength or gentleness. This he has portrayed usually with simple lines and earthy tones with no bold splashes of colour to obscure that intent. For many months, he has been searching for a new direction and much of his work now is more detailed with a slightly primitive style. He has always believed the strength lies in the eyes, as in his birds of prey, and his new work follows this principle.
